Unlocking Wellbeing Huntingdon 2025

Friday we took Unlocking Wellbeing to Free Flow Friday at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Huntingdon, where you can find free breakfast in the morning and free acupuncture in the afternoons–every Friday. Everyone is welcome.

Pete led a recover walk along the river with an opportunity to sketch some of the beautiful scenery.

Michael from Emmaus helped people to learn about how Emmaus helps homeless with work, with housing, and with community. Zandacielava from HealthyYou helped anyone wanting to stop smoking.  We had free seedlings to try your hand at gardening (peppers, tomatoes, rocket and more). Rachel served up Inertiia’s yummy fruit smoothies and Andrea ran a competition between the vegetable soup and tomato soup–although the winner was never announced.

Paint a Pot was popular as was the indoor curling games.

One of the most popular activities was the game on the outside of Liam’s Fitness Rush mobile gym, the Touch Panel-Reaction Challenge. It had a large panel, made up of a grid of buttons that lit up one after another and the challenge was to see how many you could press in one minute.  Someone managed well over a hundred–very fast reflexes.  Some feedback we got was,

The energy, connection, and joy throughout the day were amazing, and seeing people outside enjoying the sunshine and getting involved was brilliant.”

You had to see ‘The Table of Doomed Houseplants’ to believe it. Will anyone with a green finger revive these poor little dried and dead plants?

Julie Amps and her colleague represented Community Connectors in Huntingdonshire.  They help people get their ideas off the ground, giving practical support as well as some much appreciated encouragement.

My highlight for these days are always the stories. Someone shared their story for the first time and I later found out that they were very nervous talking in a big room full of people. It was a challenge, but worthwhile and people learned a lot. This time one of our stories involved  Abi and how mindfulness practices helped her. So she led us all in a short meditation, inviting us to use our imaginations and reflect on what we need to leave behind and what we can experiment embracing.

We’ve done Unlocking Wellbeing before, and in 2025 we are coming to Wisbech in September (for Recovery Month) and Cambridge in December.  You are invited!
